Argentina-Brazil trade hits $1.677 bn in June

Bilateral trade between Argentina and Brazil dropped 34.2% year-on-year to USD 1.677bn in June, El Cronista reported. The decline is mainly explained by the weak Argentine imports and exports to its neighbour.

Argentina’s purchases from Brazil plummeted 44% y/y to USD 849mn during the month of reference, while its exports to this country fell 19.7% y/y to USD 828mn.

As a result, Argentina recorded a trade deficit with Brazil for the second consecutive month. Despite the decline of the bilateral trade, Argentina ranks as Brazil’s third biggest trading partner.
