Brazil’s construction activity reaches its highest level in 6 years
Brazil’s construction activity index rose 0.8pts m/m to 49.2pts in August, reaching its highest level in 6 years (since November 2013), CEEMarketWatch reported citing figures released by the National Confederation of Industry (CNI).
All components increased in monthly terms, with employment growing 3.9% m/m to post its strongest result since October 2013. Investment intentions went up by 4.1pts m/m to 37.2pts, while expectations improved by 0.3pts m/m to 54.8pts during the month of reference.
On the negative side, the industry is still suffering the negative impact of the weak financial conditions, the slow economic recovery and the uncertainty regarding government policy.Original source: CEEMarketWatch
