Car sales in Romania hit decade high in Jan-July

Romanian car market has recorded a decade high in January-July this year, with car sales growing 23.8% y/y, Ziarul Financiar reported referring to Automotive Manufacturers and Importers Association’s data. Sales of cars produced in Romania recorded a growth of 37% over the reviewed period, while sales of cars made outside Romania grew 22.1%.

Over the January-July period Dacia was the best-selling car with 31.8% market share, followed by Volkswagen and Skoda, with 10.4% and 9.1% market share respectively.

The record growth of sales was mainly underpinned by sales to companies, which accounted for 63% of the total in the reviewed period and sales to individuals, which grew 32% of the year in the first seven months, Ziarul Financiar added.
