China’s steel exports drop 23.6% y/y in June

China's steel exports went down by 23.6% on an annual basis to 5.306 million mt for June 2019, Steel Business Briefing (SBB) reported referring to data provided by the country’s General Administration of Customs. On a monthly basis, the drop for June stood at 7.6%.

Thus, the decline of steel exports maintained its downward trend for a third month in a row. Also, net steel exports booked in the sixth month of this year slipped by 26.1% on an annual basis to 4.361 million mt. The decline on the month was 8.4%.

In the meantime, China’s steel imports for June dropped by 9.1% on the year and 3.78% on the month to 0.945 million mt. For the first six months of 2019, the imports went down by 12.7% on year to 5.823 million mt, SBB noted.
