China, USA to hold new round of trade talks at end-Mar

China and the USA will hold new round of high-level economic and trade consultations in Beijing on March 28 and 29, China Daily reported referring to the Asian country’s commerce ministry. The round of negotiations between the two countries will be eighth in a row and a ninth round is expected in early April.

Beijing and Washington have recently had several phone conversations on economic and trade issues and have agreed on the schedule. During the previous round of talks, substantial progress has been made on specific issues such as technology transfer, protection of intellectual property rights, non-tariff barriers, the service sector, agriculture and exchange rates.

The steady growth of the two countries’ bilateral relationship is in the interest of both parties and is beneficial to the whole world, China’s Premier Li Keqiang commented. The improvement is also in line with Beijing’s recent efforts to further open up its domestic economy and build a world-class business environment, China Daily added.
