Colombia’s coffee output improves sharply in September

Colombia’s coffee production rose by 3.6% year-on-year in September, improving sharply compared to the 11% y/y decline recorded a month earlier, CEEMarketWatch reported citing figures released by the National Federation of Coffee Growers (Fenalco). As a result, industry’s output increased 0.4% y/y in the last 12 months.

On the negative side, however, coffee exports dropped 7.9% y/y during the month of reference, worsening considerably compared to the 12.8% y/y growth registered in August. This is their first negative result so far this year.

CEEMarketWatch commented that the local coffee industry is showing signs of recovery in September after its negative performance during the first eight months of 2019.
