Colombia’s industrial activity grows 3.2% y/y in May

Industrial activity in Colombia rose by 3.2% year-on-year in May, M-Brain News Monitoring reported citing figures released by the national department of statistics DANE.

As a result, output increased by 2% y/y during the first five months of 2019. It was mainly driven by the drinks industry production, which expanded by 5.8% y/y during the period of reference.

This industry also saw a 4.7% growth in sales in May and 10.5% hike in January-May.

The president of Colombia’s National Manufacturers Association (ANDI), Bruce Master, said that 26 of the 39 industrial activities studied by DANE improved in May.
