Colombia’s oil production rises 3.3% y/y in May

Oil output in Colombia expanded 3.3% year-on-year in May to 894,518 barrels per day (bpd), CEEMarketWatch reported citing figures released by the Mining and Energy Ministry. This is the second best performance of the sector in 2019 and it shows improvement of 0.3% compared to the previous month.

CEEMarketWatch considers that this positive result is pulling country’s economic activity up so far this year. This source forecasted that the positive trend of oil output will probably continue ahead thanks to high prices and the strong investment of the state-owned oil company Ecopetrol in the production platform.
