Czech carmaker Skoda reports 4.1% drop in global deliveries in August

Czech carmaker Skoda Auto reported 4.1% decrease in deliveries to customers around the world in August selling 88,100 cars, CTK – Business News reported.  The slide came due to the shrinking Chinese market where Skoda sold 22,100 cars in August, or by 23.8% less than the same month of 2018. Nonetheless the stable growth of sales in Europe managed to curb the overall decline, despite the poor performance on Skoda’s main Market -- China.

CTK detailed that in Western Europe, Skoda delivered 33,800 vehicles in August, up 6.7% y/y. Skoda’s deliveries to Germany, its second-largest single market, increased by 5.6% y/y to 13,800 cars.

Skoda remains upbeat for the coming months, relying on the launch of new city SUV Skoda Kamiq on European markets. Skoda sold 1.25 million cars worldwide last year.
