E-commerce in Argentina soars 52% y/y in 2017

E-commerce sales in Argentina jumped by 52% y/y to USD 5.41bn in 2017, despite consumption in the country fell by up to 5% in the last few years, M-Brain News Monitoring reported citing figures released by Deloitte. The trend of sector’s sales in Argentina is clearly positive considering it had also grown by 51% y/y in 2016.

On the negative side, e-commerce accounts only for 2% of overall retail sales in the country, compared to more than 5% in developed nations. This fact is mainly explained by the low uptake of banking services by adults and the lack of trust in online shops.
