Ethiopia’s CPI inflation grows to 10.4% y/y in Dec 2018

Ethiopia’s CPI inflation rose to 10.4% on the year for December 2018 from 9.3% a month earlier, CEEMarketWatch reported referring to data provided by the country’s stats office CSA. The bureau underlined that it had increased weight of food component by 1pp.

The good result in the last month of 2018 was attributed to an increase in food prices and inflation in the sector jumped to 11.4% on the year from 9.4% in November.

On the other hand, non-food inflation edged marginally down to 9.1% year-on-year for December from 9.2% a month earlier, CEEMarketWatch added.
