Ethiopia plans to split state-owned telecoms group to reduce monopoly

Ethiopia plans to split its state-owned telecommunications company Ethiopian Telecommunications Corp. (EthioTelecom) and sell stakes in the two new entities to private operators, Business Daily Africa reported citing the country’s PM Abiy Ahmed. Until now, Ethiopia’s government has been wary of working with private groups, Business Daily Africa added.
