FDI in Colombia down 3.9% y/y in H1

Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Colombia fell 3.9% year-on-year to USD 4.10bn during the first half of 2018, M-Brain News Monitoring reported citing figures released by the local central bank.

This decline was mainly explained by the 44% drop in the flows of foreign funds to the retail, industry and construction sectors. On the positive side, FDI in oil and mining increased 16.5% y/y to USD 3.31bn during the period of reference.

Colombia’s central bank also revealed that net foreign investment decreased by 12.8% y/y to USD 5.45bn in H1 and by 47.3% y/y in June alone.
