Hungary to expand online cash register system to tourism sector in 2018

Hungary plans to expand its online cash register system to the tourism accommodation sector, including camping sites, Airbnb apartments and private facilities, in 2018, CEEMarketWatch reported citing local news portal 24.hu. If the targeted players refuse to introduce the system, they will be subject to a three-month shutdown.

The online cash register system is aimed to counter tax evasion and Budapest had managed to book significant budget revenue gains since its introduction in 2014. It was initially launched in the retail sector and later expanded to some services sectors, CEEMarketWatch added.
