Hungary's construction sector growth slows down to 1.4% y/y in Mar

Hungary's construction sector saw its growth slow down to 1.4% on an annual basis for March 2018, Hungary AM reported citing data released by the country’s Central Statistical Office (KSH). The disappointing result comes after a double-digit growth trend followed for over a year now.

Over the first quarter of 2018, construction producer prices jumped by 8.2% on the year. Also, construction production for the three-month period rose by 19% on the year.

The slowdown in Hungary’s construction sector output was explained with the effects of tight capacity. For example, for the first quarter of the year, developers managed to complete two office buildings in the capital Budapest instead of the planned six buildings, Hungary AM noted.
