Currently, ICT services comprise 2.2% of the country's GDP

The growth of Uzbekistan’s ICT services in 2017 has amounted to 124% in comparison with 2016 results, UzReport Daily reported, referring to data from the State Statistics Committee.

During the past year the government has been actively pursuing the development of the industry by launching several number of innovative projects and attracting investors. Recently Uzbekistan has expressed the intention to attract Deloitte to develop a national concept in the field of ICT in Uzbekistan.

Country’s efforts seem to be paying off as the country has improved its position in the latest ICT development index (2017) jumping up eight places. However, ICT services still comprise only 2.2% of the country's current GDP, UzReport Daily added.

By 2020 Uzbekistan plans to increase the share of information and communication technologies (ICT) in GDP to 4%.
