IDC says Middle East, Africa, Turkey to raise ICT spending 3.6% in 2017

Spending on information and communications technology in the Middle East, Africa and Turkey is to grow 3.6% on the year to $242.6 billion next year, Gulf News reported on Tuesday citing a projection by US market research and consultancy International Data Corporation (IDC).

In the next five years, the hardware sector in the region is expected to grow 1.7%, software 7%, and IT services by 8.6%.

IDC expects that next year the IT spending is expected to be flat at $6.2 billion in the UAE, to increase to $7.5 billion in Saudi Arabia and $10.5 billion in South Africa. The other Gulf Cooperation Council countries are expected to spend a total of $3.5 billion on ICT next year.
