India promotes exports in China's first import-only show

India is promoting its exports of food, pharmaceuticals, information technology and services such as tourism in the first China International Import Expo (CIIE). The move is part of India’s effort to reduce its trade deficit with China, The Economic Times said referring to a government statement.

With a total trade of $89.71 billion in 2017-18, China remains India's largest trading partner. “The CIIE will provide a platform for increasing India's exports to China. Interactions between the two sides will also expedite market access issues particularly for pharma, IT & ITES, agro and processed food," The Economic Times has quoted the Federation of Indian Export Organisations.
