Iran’s steel products output drops y-o-y

As of end-March 2016, Iran produced 15.3 mn mt of finished steel products, down 7% y-o-y.

The crude steel output for the same period was 16.71 mn mt, down 0.58% y-o-y.

It was the first time that production of finished steel products was lower than crude steel output.

The local steel industry is able to produce around 21 mn mt/y and is currently utilized at 76%.
