Mexico’s industrial activity falls 2.1% y/y in June
Mexico’s industrial production contracted 2.12% year-on-year in June, recording its ninth consecutive monthly decline, El Financiero reported citing figures released by the statistics office INEGI. Activity also fell 1.8% y/y during the first half of 2019.
The decline, registered in June, is mainly explained by the construction industry which dropped 6.15% y/y due to the 5.22% y/y decrease of the buildings component and the 5.41% y/y fall of the civil engineering sector.
The mining industry also went down 5.8% y/y during the analyzed month, while manufacturing production’s growth slowed to 0.75% y/y.Original source: El Financiero
