Mexico’s real estate sector to grow 6% in 2019

Mexico’s real estate sector will grow 5.5%-6% this year, El Financiero reported citing a forecast made by the Mexican Association of Real Estate Professionals (AMPI).

The president of AMPI, Pablo Vazquez, projected that sector’s expansion in 2019 will exceed the 5.1% growth recorded in 2018. “We expect the industry growth to accelerate even more during the second half of the year”, the official explained.

He also forecasted that the residential segment will increase the most this year – approximately 7%- driven by the strong demand in Mexico City and the states of Mexico and Jalisco. Finally, Vazquez forecasted that the sector would post a more moderate expansion of 5.8% in Mexico City due to the restriction of construction permits for big projects.
