OiLibya changes name to Ola Energy

Kenya-based oil marketer Libya Oil Kenya Limited (LOKL), known under the trade name OiLibya, has decided to change its name to Ola Energy, Africa Review reported. The move is part of the company’s expansion strategy, its CEO Duncan Murashiki explained.

The new brand, which is short for Oil Libya Africa, will be effected on all of the group’s outlets in 17 countries across the continent. The company also targets to expand its network to over 100 fuel stations in Kenya by the end of 2019.

Ola Energy did not disclose how much it would cost to rebrand its stations. Yet, it aims to gradually phase out the OiLibya tag as the transition is due to be completed by the middle of 2020, Africa Review added.
