OTP named among Polish mBank’s potential buyers
Hungary's largest lender OTP Bank is named among the potential candidates for a 69.3% stake in Polish mBank, a Commerzbank subsidiary, bne Intellinews reported referring to Hungarian media. Currently, OTP is not present in Poland.
mBank is the fourth largest lender in Poland. Its market capitalisation stands at PLN 16.2 trillion and its balance sheet at a total of PLN 152 trillion. OTP Bank, on the other hand, booked HUF 105 billion after-tax profit in the first half of 2019.
According to Polish media, state-owned banks would enjoy priority in the selection of mBank’s buyer. OTP declined to comment on the matter, bne Intellinews added.
