Panama to become the highest growing economy in Central America in 2016

Panama will post the strongest economic performance in Central America this year with GDP growth at around 6%, according to budgetary and economical organization Sieca.

Nicaragua follows Panama in second place, with projected GDP growth of 5% while Costa Rica (4.3%) and Guatemala (4%) will place third and fourth respectively. On the contrary, Sieca forecasts that El Salvador will grow only 2.5% in 2016.

Regional economic growth is expected to reach 4.3% this year, after observing an increase of 4.1% in 2015.
