Peru’s mining investment jumps 24.5% y/y in January-July
Mining investment in Peru soared 24.5% year-on-year to USD 3.011bn during the first seven months of 2019, Andina news agency reported referring to figures released by the Energy and Mines Minister Francisco Ismodes.
Approximately USD 1.464bn were destined for reinvestment in operations, while USD 1.338bn were allocated for projects in execution. Moreover, USD 188mn were spent for exploration investments and USD 20.3mn for new projects.
The minister forecasted that investment in the sector would reach USD 6bn by the end of 2019 and underlined that in 2018 the sector attracted more resources than expected.Original source: Andina news agency
