Peruvian retail sector to expand 4% in 2019

Peru’s retail sector will grow 4% in 2019, M-Brain News Monitoring reported referring to a forecast by the retail association of the Lima Chamber of Commerce (CCL). 

The association highlighted that the sector expanded 6% y/y during the second quarter driven by international sporting events such as the Copa America and the Pan American games. In this regard, it projected that retail will increase 3% y/y during the second half of 2019. 

On the other hand, the association forecasted that 2020 will be a difficult year for the sector despite the fact that USD 917mn will be invested into 19 mall projects in 2019-2021 period.
