Philippines to work with Malaysia, Indonesia on maritime security

The Philippines, together with Malaysia and Indonesia, will draft a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to address maritime security in Sulu Sea in a first technical meeting this week following a trilateral meeting earlier this month.

This is following cases of maritime crimes, such as hijacking of ships and kidnapping, which the three nations have pledged to address.

The three countries plan to cooperate on intelligence-sharing and sea patrols.
