Russian Railways’ cargo traffic grows 2.2% y/y in 2018

State-owned railroad operator Russian Railways saw its cargo traffic grow by 2.2% on an annual basis to 1.29 billion tonnes for 2018, Prime reported referring to documents revealed by the company. In December alone, cargo traffic declined by 1.1% on the year to 109 million tonnes.

For full 2018, handling of coal rose by 4.6% year-on-year to 374.9 million tonnes. Cargo of oil and oil products went up by 0.4% to 236.4 million tonnes. Fertilizers traffic grew by 3.7% on the year, and grain traffic jumped by 22.6% over last year, Prime added.
