S Korea to inject KRW 248bn in smart farming in 2020
South Korea plans to invest KRW 248 billion to boost its smart farming industry in 2020, Yonhap News reported referring to data released by the country’s agriculture ministry. In comparison, the amount allocated to the sector this year stands at KRW 162 billion.
Seoul is determined to focus on the prompt adoption of the technology in order not to lag far behind other global rivals. That is why the country needs to harness cutting-edge technologies at local farms in a timely manner, the ministry added.
Smart farming centers on automatically controlling the environment to raise different crops and animals on the basis of customised database. The government plans to provide education courses in the field as well as smart farms to lease and new smart farming technologies for farmers to test, Yonhap News added.Original source: Yonhap News
