Services sector to boost Vietnam’s GDP in 2019

The services sector is expected to boost Vietnam’s gross domestic product (GDP) growth in 2019 while the industrial and construction sectors will remain its main driving force, Vian Macroeconomic News reported referring to an estimate provided by the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI).

The projection will be valid if the services sector rises by over 7.2% on the year, the ministry added. The country’s GDP growth as a whole is expected to be equivalent or even higher than last year's increase of 7.08%.

In the first quarter of 2019, Vietnam’s GDP was up by 6.79% year-on-year. However, Hanoi’s economy still has to face major challenges, both due to internal issues as well as to the growing uncertainties of the world economy, Vian Macroeconomic News added.
