Singapore, Philippines agree to boost bilateral ties

Singapore and the Philippines aim to boost their bilateral ties, Intellasia.Net News reported. The goal was reiterated during the introductory visit of the Philippines’ foreign affairs secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. to Singapore at the beginning of May.

During the visit, Locsin met with Singapore’s prime minister Lee Hsien Loong and they both discussed the warm and longstanding relationship between the two countries and their growing economic relations. They also talked about the potential to strengthen bilateral co-operation in areas such as counterterrorism and updating of the Singapore-Philippines Avoidance of Double Taxation Agreement.

Singapore and the Philippines re-affirmed the shared commitment to ASEAN unity and focused on the importance of regional cooperation to maintain peace and stability, Intellasia.Net News noted.
