South Africa’s business confidence deteriorates in Q3

South Africa’s Business Confidence Index deteriorated further in Q3 reaching 38 points, a dip from 39 in Q2, CEEMarketWatch reported. The business sentiment has fallen again despite the optimism at the start of this year over the replacement of former president Jacob Zuma with Cyril Ramaphosa. The Business Confidence Index stood at 45 in Q1, but overall it remained below the 50-point expansion mark for three successive quarters already. Moreover none of its sub-components managed to surpass the no-change mark in July-September.

The subdued economic growth, exchange rate losses and reform policy uncertainty continue to worry South Africa’s business sector, CEEMarketWatch commented.
