Turkey’s crude steel output rises 2.8% y/y in Jan-July

Turkey saw its crude steel output rose by 2.8% on an annual basis to 22.2 million mt for the first seven months of 2018, Steel Business Briefing (SBB) reported referring to data published by the Turkish Steel Producers' Association (TCUD).

For July alone, Ankara’s crude steel output dropped by 0.7% on the year to 3.3 million mt while in comparison to June 2018 it jumped by 7.3%. Over the month, crude steel produced by EAFs slipped by 6% year-on-year to 2.2 million mt while production via oxygen converters rose by 6.6% to 1.1 million mt.

Between January and July, Turkey's billet production rose by 0.7% on an annual basis to 14.8 million, SBB added.
