Turkey sees number of intl flight passengers rise 10.5% y/y in 9-mo 2019
Turkey saw the number of its international flight passengers rise by 10.5% on an annual basis to 84.8 million people for the first nine months of 2019, Hurriyet Daily News reported referring to data provided by the country's General Directorate of the State Airports Authority (DHMİ).
On the other hand, number of domestic passengers dropped by 12.7% year-on-year to 76.4 million people. Cargo traffic over the reported period also declined by 15.4% on the year to almost 2.5 million tonnes.
Between January and September 2019, the busiest airport in the country with 35.6 million passengers was the new Istanbul Airport, whose first phase officially opened last fall. Second in line was the airport in the Mediterranean resort city of Antalya with 29.3 million passengers, Hurriyet Daily News added.Original source: Hurriyet Daily News
