Turkey's domestic tourism expenditure jumps 24.9% y/y Q1 2018

Turkey saw its domestic tourism expenditure jump by 24.9% on the year to TRY 6.3 billion for the first quarter of 2018, Hurriyet Daily News reported referring to data provided by the Turkish Statistics Institute (TUIK).

Over the reported period, individual expenditures held a 94.2% share of the overall number and stood at TRY 5.94 billion. Package tour expenditures held a 5.8% share with TRY 364.6 million.

Between January and March 2018, Turkey’s domestic visitors booked 112.8 million overnight stays and the average expenditure per trip was TRY 407, Hurriyet Daily News underlined.
