Unemployment rate in Poland slips y/y to 3.9% in Q1 2019

The unemployment rate in Poland slipped to 3.9% for the first quarter of 2019 from 4.2% a year earlier, CEEMarketWatch reported referring to data revealed in the Labour Force Survey (LFS). On a quarterly basis, it was slightly up from 3.8% at the end of 2018.

According to the survey, the count of the unemployed people in Poland rose to 666,000 between January and March this year from 649,000 in the last quarter of 2018. However, in the first quarter of 2018 their number stood at 709,000 people.

In the meantime, the labour force participation rate fell by 0.2pp quarter-on-quarter to 55.9% in the first three months of 2019. Its annual drop was 0.1pp, CEEMarketWatch noted.
