Warsaw Chopin Airport may be shut down

The future of Warsaw Chopin Airport remains uncertain and it may get closed as soon as Poland’s new Central Communication Port (CPK) opens, Polish News Bulletin (PNB) reported. The new megaproject facility is due to become operational some time in 2027.

According to sources cited by Dziennik Gazeta Prawna daily, CPK will not be considered viable unless the Warsaw Chopin airport closes. Yet, a decision is still to be taken and one of the main criteria is that the availability of airport services for Warsaw metropolitan area can not deteriorate.

In the meantime, as CPK is still under construction, Warsaw Chopin requires modernisation for it to work until the new facility opens for business, PNB noted.
