11 - 17 February 2017

We are now exactly one month on from the inauguration of President Trump so it seems a good time for an early check on the impact of his administration on emerging markets. A major concern had been that a combination of US interest rate hikes and the abandonment of international trade deals would damage the growth prospects for developing countries. At this point, while Fed rates seem sure to rise in coming months, it is likely that increases will be gradual and well signposted, making them more manageable for emerging markets.
