They welcome total of 14.76m passengers over month

Turkey's airports hit a 12-year high in terms of passenger traffic in January 2018 as they welcomed a total of 14.76 million people, or up by 28.5% year-on-year, Anadolu Agency reported citing data provided by the country's transport, maritime and communications minister Ahmet Arslan.

The number of passengers who opted for domestic flights over the month rose by 28.2% on an annual basis to about 9.6 million people. The number of international passengers rose by 29.4% to 5.15 million people.

The three airports that contributed the most to the successful monthly result were Istanbul's Ataturk and Sabiha Gokcen airports as well as Ankara's Esenboga airport, Anadolu Agency noted.
