The Republic of Srpska Investment-Development Bank (IRBRS) was founded in December 2006 as a joint-stock company which is 100%-owned by the Republic of Srpska in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The strategic goals of the bank include encouragement of investments and stimulation of development in the Republic of Srpska. IRBRS is not a commercial bank by its nature, which means it does not have the right to collect deposits nor to give guarantees, thus it is not under the jurisdiction of the Banking Agency of the Republic of Srpska. The bank does not invest funds earmarked for development projects directly, but rather through a network of commercial banks and microcredit organizations.
