Bulgaria's Air Traffic Services Authority (BULATSA), which was established in March 1969, is a self-financed, state-owned institution within the country's transport ministry. The services offered by BULATSA include air traffic management, organisation and management of the controlled civil air space and the air traffic flows, provision, maintenance and operation of the relevant systems and equipment, provision of information services.
The company operates five air traffic control centres - Area Control Centre (ACC) in Sofia and APP/TWR Centres in Varna, Burgas, Plovdiv and Gorna Oryahovitsa. Every year BULATSA services around 500,000 airplanes.
