Bulgarian Posts, which was established in 1879, is a state-owned postal operator. The main activity of the company features the development, maintenance and use of the national mail service network. It is organised into three divisions: mail services, parcel services and specialist services. Bulgarian Posts provides postal as well as domestic and international courier services, domestic money orders, international incoming and outgoing money transfers. In addition, the company is in charge of postage stamps edition.
In 1992 the company "Balgarski poshti i dalekosaobchtenia" EOOD was divided into Bulgarian Posts EOOD and Bulgarian Telecommunication company EAD. In 1997 Bulgarian Post was transformed in a joint stock company. In 2005 Bulgarian Posts was included in the list of companies with more than 50 percent state share in capital prohibited for privatization.
Bulgarian Posts operates through headquarters and 5 regional centers, located in Sofia, Pleven, Varna, Burgas and Plovdiv.
