Carlsberg Bulgaria AD (Bulgaria)

Carlsberg Bulgaria is one of the leading breweries in the country. The company is engaged in manufacturing, bottling and selling beer. It offers on the local market the following brands - Shumensko, Shumensko Dark, Pirinsko, Pirinsko Radler, Carlsberg, Budweiser Budvar, Erdinger Weissbier, Tuborg. Carlsberg Bulgaria also distributes Somersby cyder.
Danish brewer Carlsberg set foot in Bulgaria in 2002 by acquiring control of two local breweries. In June 2002, Carlsberg Breweries acquired a 59.4% stake in the Bulgarian brewery Shumensko Pivo from Turkish firm Ferroal Ltd. for an undisclosed sum. Two months later, the Danish company bought 67% of Bulgarian brewery Pirinsko Pivo. In January 2003, Carlsberg purchased another 27.5% stake in Pirinsko Pivo for EUR 3.8 million, bringing its ownership to 94.5%. In 2004, Carlsberg merged its two breweries in Bulgaria into a single subsidiary named Carlsberg Bulgaria.
