Company Description
EVN Bulgaria, wholly-owned by Austrian regional energy utility EVN AG, started operations in 2005 following the acquisition of Elektrorazpredelenie - Plovdiv (Electricity Distribution Company-Plovdiv) and Elektrorazpredelenie Stara Zagora (Electricity Distribution Company-Stara Zagora).
EVN AG placed a winning EUR 271 million bid for 67% in each of the companies, grouped in the so-called Southern Bulgaria privatisation pool at a tender held in July 2004.
Before the deal, Elektrorazpredelenie - Plovdiv owned and operated power generation facilities as well as distributed and sold electric power in the regions of Plovdiv, Haskovo, Pazardzhik, Kardzhali and Smolyan. Elektrorazpredelenie Stara Zagora covered the regions of Stara Zagora, Burgas, Sliven and Yambol.
In the second half of 2006, EVN Bulgaria separated the electricity and supply networks it bought in two entities. Elektrorazpredelenie - Plovdiv was put in charge of power distribution under the name of EVN Bulgaria Elektrorazpredelenie AD (EVN Bulgaria Electricity Distribution AD), and Elektrorazpredelenie Stara Zagora started dealing with electricity supply and sales under the name of EVN Bulgaria Elektrosnabdiavane (EVN Bulgaria Electricity Supply AD).
In 2006, the company opened 39 customer energy centers (CECs) in 37 Bulgarian cities in south-east Bulgaria, to deal with customer service and maintenance of the local electricity distribution network.
In 2012 EVN AG became the sole owner in EVN Bulgaria Elektrorazpredelenie and EVN Bulgaria Elektrosnabdiavane.
