Korado-Bulgaria, which was established in 1968 as state company Lach, is the only manufacturer of steel panel radiators in the country. The company, based in the northern town of Strazhitsa, produces steel panel radiators, radiators for bathrooms and interiors, mounting sets as well as fireplaces for solid fuel. It sells some 250,000 radiators annually exporting some 90% of its production to Greece, the Czech Republic, Germany, Russia, etc.
A total of 67% of Lach were offered for sale against vouchers under the government's mass privatisation programme in 1997. The stake was purchased by local sell-off funds and individuals and later acquired by local company Mayler-Lach, a company controlled by private Czech central heating units manufacturer Korado a.s. In December 1999, the Ceska Trebova-based company purchased another 26% in Lach for USD 616,000. After that, the Czech company merged Lach with Korado-Bulgaria, former Mayler–Lach.
