Austrian forklift and crane maker Palfinger set foot in Bulgaria in 1999 by acquiring a production facility of former arms manufacturing company Beta in the northwestern town of Cherven Bryag. The company operates two production facilities in Bulgaria, which produce almost exclusively components for the production of other Palfinger units worldwide. The Cherven Briag plant specialises in sheet-metal working, manufacturing of welded components for assembly plants, production of crane booms, additional supports, components for tail-lifts and other parts for assembly plants.
In 2004, Palfinger relocated its hydraulic cylinder production from Lengau, Austria to a production facility in the village of Tenevo, south-eastern Bulgaria.
Palfinger has so far invested over EUR 50 million in the expansion of its operations in the country.
