Yettel Bulgaria EAD (Bulgaria)

Yettel Bulgaria EAD (former Telenor Bulgaria and earlier Cosmo Bulgaria Mobile), is a telecommunication company, offering a full range of mobile products and services to residential and business customers. The mobile operator offers its services through a retail network of more than 230 stores nationwide, having more than 4 million active subscribers. In 2000, Greek mobile operator Cosmote paid USD 135 million to win a 15-year licence to operate Bulgaria's second GSM network. The mobile network was launched in September 2001 under the trade name GloBul. In April 2005, Bulgaria's telecoms regulator issued a high-speed third-generation (3G) mobile services licence to GloBul for BGN 42 million. The same month, the telecoms watchdog awarded a 20-year, fixed-line licence to GloBul for the price of BGN 97,000. In September 2007, Globul launched an integrated mobile and fixed-line service for corporate customers. In 2007 Globul celebrated six years of operations in Bulgaria. Throughout this time the company has invested more than BGN 1.4 billion. In 2013, Cosmo Bulgaria Mobile became part of Telenor Group – a leading telecommunication company which operates in 13 countries in Europe and Asia and has over 170 million subscribers. Starting from March 1, 2022 Telenor Bulgaria is changing its name to Yettel, the name change being part of a broader rebranding initiative in Bulgaria, Hungary and Serbia, where telecommunications companies owned by the PPF fund operate under the Telenor brand.
