Zagorka, majority owned by Greek-based Brewinvest, is the biggest brewery in Bulgaria by output capacity and annual sales.
Brewinvest which is totally owned by Dutch brewing group Heineken NV, bought 80% in Zagorka for USD 21.7 million in 1994 and currently controls a 98,86% stake in the brewer.
The Greek-registered enterprise also bought a stake of 64.5% in the Sofia-based Ariana brewery in mid-1998.
Brewinvest merged Zagorka based in Stara Zagora, central Bulgaria and the Ariana breweries in November 2003.
Zagorka has invested over EUR 130 million in production facility upgrades since going into private hands.
