Belaruskali OAO (Belarus)

Belaruskali OAO is one of the largest in the world and the largest in the CIS producer of potash fertilizer. The company operates in the Starobin basin, source of potassium salts and including four mining departments, service shops and service units. Starobin potassium salts basin is one of the largest in the world and the second largest in the CIS. It was formed about 300 million years ago in the late Devonian geological history. At the site of the present Polessye was a shallow sea with extensive lagoons. As the result of evaporation and sagging bottom of the pool due to vertical oscillatory movements were formed deposits of sodium and potassium, with the successive layers of clay and carbonate. The company produces every sixth ton of potash in the world.
