Naviera Interoceangas S.A (NISA) is a company located in Las Condes. It was incorporated on June 9, 1961. The company's history is linked to the Menéndez family, who started their activities in Punta Arenas in 1875. Initially, NISA focused on transporting animals to populate different estates in the region. In 1961, NISA partnered with GAZOCEAN from France to transport liquefied gas between Cabo Negro and San Vicente. They used specially built gas ships for this purpose. NISA also acquired a stake in Sociedad de Navegación Petrolera (SONAP) and Compañía Marítima de Punta Arenas S.A. (COMAPA) in 1974 and 1976, respectively. In 1979, NISA diversified its activities into other areas of maritime transportation and currently includes several leading companies in the shipping and tourism sectors.
